Are you looking for a new opportunity in Early Years? Wee Mack’s Nursery are seeking an experienced, energetic, confident Deputy Manager who can provide a welcoming, fun and engaging environment for our children. You will need to be able to lead and oversee staff, have a good knowledge of child development and be passionate about working within the Early Years sector.
Wee Mack’s has been open since August 2021 so we are still creating and developing our nursery. We require a Deputy Manager who is able to bring new ideas and inspiration to the setting, as well as support the manager and motivate the team.
Your duties will include:
creating a safe, caring and stimulating environment that promotes learning through play
supervising activity-planning and working with the team and other professionals to make sure that children’s needs are met
working closely with parents and/or carers, giving them a high standard of service, including regular progress reports
making sure that equipment, such as furniture and toys, is in good condition
input in training and recruitment as directed by Nursery Manager
supporting and developing the team including ongoing assessment and CPD
an understanding of child protection within the nursery and the procedure for reporting concerns
running the centre in line with environmental, health and safety and fire regulations
knowledge of nursery policies and administrative procedures; and carrying out risk assessments
ability to run the centre in line with our aims and objectives when Manager is not present
You would need to have at least a level 3 or above qualification (SCQF 7) in childcare/early years, and previous experience of working in a senior practitioner or deputy role.
Also required;
A sound working knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence, Realising the Ambition and GIRFEC.
A sound knowledge of child protection procedures.
SSSC Registration
Current PFA Certificate
Strong leadership, interpersonal and Customer Service skills
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Good organisation and time management skills
Membership of relevant PVG scheme
Hours and benefits:
Salary range £25000 - £27000 p/a
38 hours per week, Monday - Friday (occasional weekend or evening work for events, training or marketing purposes may be required)
